Rainbow Reading and New Heights

A reading and comprehension programme where the children listen to Audio CD’s of books and then read with an adult before completing comprehension tasks about the book.

Llywio Darllen (A Welsh adaptation of That Reading Thing)

Rhaglen i ddatblygu sgiliau sillafu a darllen Cymraeg . Mae’r disgyblion yn dysgu sut i sillafoli gyntaf ermwyn torri geiriau lawr. Mae’r rhaglen yn mynd drwy’r holl batrymau sillafu yn y Gymraeg ac yn helpu’r disgyblion i wahaniaethu synnau sydd yn swnio’r un peth e.e u, i a y. Gall hyn fod o gymorth iddynt wrth ddarllen a sillafu.

A programme to develop Welsh spelling and reading skills. The pupils learn how to spell first to in order to break words down. The program goes through all the spelling patterns in Welsh and helps the pupils to distinguish sounds that sound the same ‘i, y and u’. This can help them in reading and spelling.

O Gam i Gam( Years 5 and 6/Blynyddoedd 5 a 6)

Llyfr sydd yn mynd drwy’r holl seiniau posibl yn yr iaith Gymraeg. Bydd y disgyblion yn ysgrifennu brawddegau ar ol eu clywed yn cael eu adrodd ar lafar.

A book that goes through all the possible sounds in the Welsh language. Pupils write sentences after hearing them being dictated.

Toe by Toe ( Years 5 and 6/Blynyddoedd 5 a 6)

‘Toe By Toe’ is essentially a decoding book. It trains students who struggle to read to better identify written text, easily and quickly. This enables them to convert letters and words into the appropriate sounds so they speak and pronounce them correctly every time. It is a daily practice book that looks at all the sounds that needs to be decoded in the English alphabet.

Llyfr dadgodio yw ‘Toe By Toe.’ Mae’n hyfforddi myfyrwyr sy’n cael trafferth darllen er mwyn canfod testun ysgrifenedig yn well, yn rhwydd ac yn gyflym. Mae hyn yn eu galluogi i drosi llythyrau a geiriau i’r synau priodol fel eu bod yn siarad ac yn eu henganu’n gywir bob tro. Bydd y disgyblion yn medru datblygu eu sgiliau cymdeithasol, hunan hyder, a’u ymwybyddiaeth ohonynt eu hunain mewn cyd destun grwp a drwy ddefnyddio gemau.

An emotional literacy group that works through a booklet created by Alex Kelly (http://alexkelly.biz/alexs-work-and-talkabout/)Pupils will be able to develop their own social skills, self-confidence, and their awareness in the context of a group and by using games.

ELSA Emotional Literacy Support Assisstant(Bob oedran/All ages) http://www.elsa-support.co.uk/

Cymorth 1:1 i ddisgyblion sy’n gofidio, wedi bod mewn trawma/argyfwng, sy’n cael problemau ymddygiad neu yn ei ffeindio hi’n anodd i reoli eu tymer neu mewn galar. Bydd 1 sesiwn yr wythnos am 6 wythnos gyda gweithgareddau penodedig i geisio datblygu sgiliau’r person i ddelio gyda’i sefyllfa bresennol.

1: 1 support for pupils who are distressed, in grief, have been in trauma / crisis, who experience behavioral problems or find it difficult to control their temper. There will be 1 session per week for 6 weeks with dedicated activities to try to develop the person’s skills to deal with his/her current situation. Cwrs hyfforddi yw ELSA sydd wedi’i anelu at gynorthwywyr addysgu mewn ysgolion. Enghreifftiau o bethau a gwmpesir ar y cwrs yw Sgiliau cymdeithasol, emosiynau, profedigaeth, straeon cymdeithasol a straeon therapiwtig, rheoli dicter, hunan-barch, sgiliau cwnsela megis ffocysu ateb a chyfeillgarwch.

ELSA is a training course aimed at teaching assistants in schools. Examples of things covered on the course are Social skills, emotions, bereavement, social stories and therapeutic stories, anger management, self-esteem, counselling skills such as solution focused and friendship.

Dyfal Donc Rhifedd/Catch up Numeracy (Bl/Yr 3 – 6)

  1. Mae Catch Up® Rhifedd yn ymyrraeth strwythurol un-i-un ar gyfer dysgwyr sy’n canfod rhifedd yn anodd. Mae’n galluogi dysgwyr sy’n cael trafferth gyda rhifedd i gyflawni mwy na dwbl y cynnydd sy’n nodweddiadol o ddatblygu dysgwyr.

Mae Catch Up® Rhifedd yn cynnwys sesiynau unigol 15 munud a gyflwynir ddwywaith yr wythnos. Fe’i sylfaenir mewn ymchwil academaidd ac mae’n cyfeirio at 10 elfen allweddol o rifedd:

  1.  – Cyfrif ar lafar
  2.  – Cyfrif gwrthrychau
  3.  – Darllen ac ysgrifennu
  4.  – Cannoedd, degau ac unedau
  5.  – Amcangyfrif
  6.  – Problemau geiriau
  7.  – Ffeithiau cofio

Catch Up® Numeracy is a structured one-to-one intervention for learners who find numeracy difficult. It enables learners who struggle with numeracy to achieve more than double the progress of typically developing learners. Catch Up® Numeracy involves 15-minute individual sessions delivered twice a week. It is grounded in academic research and addresses 10 key components of numeracy:

  1. – Counting verbally
  2. – Counting objects
  3. – Reading and writing
  4. – Hundreds, tens and units
  5. – Estimation
  6. – Word problems
  7. – Remembered facts

SAIL (Bl/Yr 2)

Ymyrraeth dwys sy’n cynnwys 4 x 50 munud o sesiynau’r wythnos mewn grwpiau 1:4. Bydd y sesiynau yn canolbwyntio ar glywed y seiniau, cofnodi’r llythrennau, adeiladu geiriau a llawysgrifen. Erbyn diwedd yr ymyrraeth gobeithiwn y bydd y disgyblion yn fwy hyderus wrth wneud gwaith iaith yn y dosbarth.

Intensive intervention involving 4 x 50 minutes of sessions per week in groups 1: 4. The sessions will focus on hearing the sounds, recording the letters, word-building and handwriting. By the end of the intervention we hope that pupils will be more confident in doing language work in class.

 

 STARS (Bl/Yr 3 a 4)

Ymyrraeth dwys sy’n cynnwys 3 x 60 munud o sesiynau’r wythnos mewn grwpiau 1:4/5. Bob pythefnos mae’r disgyblion yn creu llyfryn bach ar themau syml fel ‘Yn y Ty’ neu ‘Yn y parc’. Yn ystod yr wythnos bydd gweithgareddau yn atgyfnerthu’r ysgrifennu ac yn eu helpu i adeiladu brawddegau, darllen a chywiro gwaith eu hunain a dysgu sillafu geiriau allweddol.

An intense intervention involving 3 x 60 minutes of sessions per week in groups 1: 4/5. Every fortnight pupils create a small booklet on simple themes such as ‘In the House’ or ‘In the park’. During the week activities will reinforce the writing and help them build sentences, read and correct their own work and learn to spell keywords.

Sound Discovery (Years 4 – 6) Mae Sound Discovery® yn raglen llythrennedd ffoneg synthetig o safon uchel ar gyfer addysgu darllen, sillafu ac ysgrifennu. Mae’r ymyrraeth yn cael ei redeg am 20 munud, 3 gwaith yr wythnos mewn grŵp bach. Sound Discovery® is a high quality synthetic phonics literacy programme for the teaching of reading, spelling and writing. The intervention is run for 20 minutes 3 times a week in a small group.

Ymyrraeth mewn grwpiau bach sy’n canolbwyntio ar ddealltwriaeth y disgyblion o iaith sylfaenol a datblygu sgiliau’r disgyblion i wrando, eistedd yn llonydd a chymryd rhan mewn trafodaeth syml. Yn osgytal ceir gyflwyniad i nifer o eiriau sy’n cael eu defnyddio bob dydd yn yr ysgol.

An intervention in small groups that focus on pupils understanding of basic language and develop pupils skills to listen, sit still and take part in a simple discussion. In addition there also is an introduction to a number of words that are often used at school.

Speech Link is designed to be used by teachers to assess pupils aged 4 to 8 years for developmental speech sound difficulties. The innovative, online multimedia package includes a comprehensive range of resources as well as offering practical suggestions on how to manage speech difficulties within the mainstream classroom.

 Handwriting Motorway Hand Writing Motorway (I bob oedran/Every age)

Mae’r rhaglen ‘Hand Writing Motorway’ yn gydweithrediad rhwng y Gwasanaeth Therapi Galwedigaethol Plant (OT), UHB ac Ysgolion a Dysgu Gydol Oes (LLT) gan Awdurdod Lleol Caerdydd. Mae’n annog agwedd ysgol gyfan tuag at ddatblygu sgiliau modur ac yn galluogi ysgolion i gefnogi plant ag oedi datblygiadol ac anawsterau modur i wneud cynnydd heb yr angen i gyfeirio at y gwasanaethau arbenigol fel OT. Cynhelir asesiad unigol os ydym yn teimlo’r angen amdano. Cynhelir gweithgareddau HWM drwy gydol y Cyfnod Sylfaen a rhoddir dull wedi’i deilwra i’r plant hynny sydd ag anghenion mwy arwyddocaol.

 

The Handwriting Motorway programme is a collaboration between Children’s Occupational Therapy Service (OT), UHB and Schools and Lifelong Learning (LLT) from Cardiff Local Authority. It encourages a whole school approach to motor skill development and enables schools to support children with developmental delays and motor difficulties to make progress without the need to refer into the specialist services such as OT. In our school assessment is carried out if we feel the need for it. HWM activities are run throughout the Foundation Phase and a tailored approach is given to those children with more significant needs.
